La Liga – El Clásico – Match-Day 10 – Bernabéu – October 26, 2025
Xabi Alonso’s men have won the first El Clásico of the season after spectacular goals from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham at the Bernabéu in a magnificent 2-1 win. This was the first El Clásico victory for the Whites since April 2024, after being unable to win any of the four Clásicos last season. Los Blancos now find themselves comfortably top of La Liga, five points ahead of second-place Barcelona.
The game was action packed from kick off, as Vinícius Jr earned Los Blancos a penalty in just under two minutes after a challenge from Lamine Yamal in the area. However, referee Soto Grado was instructed to review the decision on the VAR monitor and overturned his decision. Around 10 minutes later, Mbappé scored an incredible half volley from outside the area, which was also overturned by VAR and semi-automated off-side due to a small part of his foot being millimetres off-side.
In the 22nd minute, nothing could stop Mbappé from scoring in this Clásico as Bellingham found him with an incredible through pass that split the opposition’s defence and off-side trap, leaving the Frenchmen one-on-one to open the scoring. This was the fourth consecutive Clásico Mbappé has scored in, and his sixth Clásico goal in just five games since joining the Whites last season. Mbappé’s excellent goal record against the Balugrana continues, with now 12 goals in just nine games including his goals from his previous club, PSG – making them one of his favourite opponents to score against. The good form continues for Real Madrid’s number 10 as this was his seventh consecutive La Liga match in which he’s managed to find the back of the net, maintaining his position as the league’s top scorer with 11 goals.

Despite a dominant display from the hosts following Mbappé’s opener, Barcelona managed to equalize fifteen minutes later through Fermín, who also scored at the Bernabéu in this fixture two seasons ago. Just a few minutes later, Vinícius Jr went on a blazing run on the left wing, beating Jules Koundé, to cross the ball into the box as Éder Militão headed the ball down to Bellingham to score the team’s second goal and retain the lead. The Englishmen’s goal was his fourth Clásico goal since joining the club in 2023/24, and his second goal in just as many matches after scoring the winner mid-week against Juventus just a few days prior. Bellingham became the youngest Real Madrid player to score and assist in a Clásico at just 22 years and 3 months old.

At the end of the first half, Mbappé managed to find the net once again, but was ruled out off-side by the linesmen. The second half kicked off similarly to the first, with Bellingham earning a penalty for Xabi Alonso’s team after another lengthy VAR monitor check by referee Soto Grado, following a handball by Barcelona defender Eric García. Mbappé stepped up for the penalty, but Szczęsny made a great save to prevent another goal. Bellingham also managed to hit the back of the net once again after a classic Madrid counter-attack, but it was also chalked off for an off-side in the build-up. With a stunning 9 minutes of added time added in the 90th minute, Pedri was sent off after a second yellow, as Real Madrid went on to win yet another El Clásico.
